Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere.  Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy.  We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by the Sunshine Cardiology Team, Ward 2F, and the Emergency Department.  We share the words of praise from Richard about the care his wife, Sheila, received.

My wife collapsed at the gym on Wednesday, and was taken to Sunshine Hospital by ambulance. She developed the signs of a heart attack while awaiting admission. She had a stent inserted in an artery, and is now at home recuperating.

I would like to thank everyone involved at Sunshine Hospital for saving her life. Everyone I encountered was professional and tremendously compassionate. A triage nurse in the Emergency Dept went out of her way to find out where my wife was, and what was happening. The emergency team was clear and decisive – she is having a heart attack, we need to act. The surgical team, headed by a doctor whose name I unfortunately don’t know, were also decisive and effective. By the time I had made my way to the coronary area, the operation was under way. The nursing staff in Ward 2f were competent, calm, reassuring and cheerful.

On behalf of myself, my son and daughter-in-law and six doting grand-children, I cannot thank you all enough.
