Not just essential - Exceptional

As we work together during these difficult COVID times, I would like to thank each of you for your commitment, support and enthusiasm in embracing our transition to a unified organisation. We appreciate everyone’s efforts and ability to not only support and care for our patients and clients but also for the care and support you show to each other. As we have reached 100 days into our transition, we would like to give you a small token of our appreciation to acknowledge all the work you do. With the increasing rate of community transmission across Melbourne impacting hospital care and placing restrictions on travelling between sites, the executive team has not been able to meet many of you in person. While not ideal, we need to keep everyone safe, and as we work through these challenging times, we look forward to visiting onsite when appropriate.

Wednesday 27 October is a day we will celebrate Positive Workplace Week and reflect is on where we can strengthen and maintain a positive workplace environment allowing all employees and volunteers to feel safe, work to their full potential that in turn ensures Western Health offers their patients the best possible care outcomes.

Our transition forums have been well attended and engaged making the Q&A sessions a great platform to receive the correct information. Unfortunately, due the pandemic there has been a need to slow down the transition process while the whole health sector focuses on COVID-19.

Please take care and keep yourselves safe

Welcome

Resilience Workshops available

“The Resilient Mindset” Ever found yourself overwhelmed by what’s going around you, wondering how you will get through the day, or simply feeling exhausted! I think we’ve all been there, particularly over the past 18 months. While there’s not much we can individually do to change what’s going on around us, there is a lot we can do to respond in the best way possible. Building our personal resilience can help to ensure we are in the best place possible to look after ourselves and those around us in challenging situations and environments.

The Resilient Mindset workshop will be run by Rachael Davidson an external coach and Organisational Psychologist that will give you an opportunity to check in and spend some time focusing on what you can do to put yourself in the best position to thrive in challenging environments. 5 key skills will be covered that underpin resilience and discuss a range of strategies and steps you can put into place immediately.

Please email: sharon.read@wh.org.au for more information.

EMPOWIR

Employee Positive Workplace issue resolution (EMPOWIR) is an element of Western Health Positive Workplace Strategy.

Western Health has developed a strategy for sustaining a positive workplace across all sites. The strategy was established to strengthen and maintain a positive workplace environment where all employees and volunteers feel safe, are enabled to work to their full potential ensuring Western Health offers their patients the best possible care outcomes.

We aim to create the best environment for our employees, volunteers and our patients who count on us every day to provide compassionate and respectful care for them.

EMPOWIR is a tool that has been developed to enable every volunteer and employee to access advice to achieve an informal and ‘no blame’ resolution or outcome in the event they have been subject to, or have witnessed some type of inappropriate workplace behaviour or interaction
