The expansion of dual diagnosis residential rehabilitation facility Westside Lodge has reached an exciting milestone, with stage one of the refurbishment now complete.
Not only does this mean better access to specialist treatment for mental health and alcohol and other drug services for the community thanks to an increased capacity, but a more comfortable experience for those staying and working at the facility.
Included in the stage one works are:
- 10 additional bedrooms
- New office spaces and meeting rooms
- Large furnished Activity and Group Rooms
- Communal spaces including lounge areas, laundry, client kitchen and outdoor verandas
- New furniture
- New IT Infrastructure with new PCs, workstations and network infrastructure
Acting Nursing Unit Manager Ramneet Kaur said the expansion works had already made a huge difference to the clients accessing Westside Lodge.
“The current client group is settling in well and enjoying the new space,” she said.
“Once stage two of the expansion is complete and we are a fully functioning 30 bed unit, we expect to be able to make a huge difference in people’s ability to access the services that Westside Lodge has to offer.”
Stage 2 works are underway, with completion expected by the end of the year. The second stage will see the installation of a large kitchen, with state-of-the-art appliances.
