Aligning and integrating Clinical Operations Directorates

Consistent with the previous phased approach, which has already occurred with services and business units such as Health Support Services, People and Culture, Pharmacy, Maternity and Gynaecology. A number of clinical services at Bacchus Marsh and Melton are now aligning and integrating with our Clinical Operations Directorate, as outlined in the table below. Meet and greets have begun between staff and their new managers as the alignment of clinical services began at the start of September.

Bacchus Marsh and Melton operations reporting changes from 1st September 2022

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does this change mean for the area I work in?

From the 1st of September; most (but not all) services will be aligned into the Western Health operations structure. For those services that are aligned, it will mean managers will now report into this division.

  • What are the divisions at Western Health?

    • Allied Health (AH)
    • Aged, Cancer and Continuing Care (ACCC)
    • Chronic and Complex Care (C&CC)
    • Clinical Support and Specialist Clinics (CS&SC)
    • Emergency, Medicine and Access (EMA)
    • Health Support Services*
    • Women’s and Children’s Services (W&C)
    • Peri-operative and Critical Care Services (POCC)
    • Western Pubic Health Unit and COVID-19 Response

*HSS is a non-clinical division and includes all services that support the provision of patient care including security, food services, environmental services, engineering, logistics, administration etc.

  • Will there be any changes to my job?

There are no changes to your position description or your role classification associated with this change. Some staff at Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Caroline Springs will have a new manager. If this is the case, then impacted staff will have been informed of this change to reporting lines.

  • My area isn’t included in this change, what does this mean for me and my team?

The change from 1st September does not cover all areas/services. We will continue to transition others areas/services in a phased approach.

By July 2023, we expect all areas to have aligned into the Western Health structure.

  • The area I work in is moving into Western Health Operations. What does this mean given Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and patient records are still on different systems?

Work continues behind the scenes to align ICT and patient records, but we will continue to have separate systems for some time. This means your service is aligned but the ICT and patient records remain separate until further notice. We expect ICT to be fully integrated by December 2022 and a merged electronic patient medical record to be completed by December 2023.

  • Will I have to work at other sites across Western Health?

There will be no changes to your work location.

  • Who can I speak to for more information?

If you have any questions about these changes, you can email Kali McEwen – Business Partner People and Culture at Kali.McEwen@wh.org.au.
