Thank you to everyone who donned their best and brightest socks for Crazy Socks for Docs Day. I wore unicorns but saw lots of stripes, some flamingos, several with a fruit theme, musical tastes (The Beatles through to Drake) and even one colleague in Edvard Munch ‘The Scream’ socks. (This particular gentleman forgot it was Crazy Socks Day and his sock choice was just reflective of his usual sartorial style!). Please scroll for a gallery of some of our favourite crazy socks.

Today’s video conversation features Dr Andy Tagg, Emergency Physician at Western Health and a wellbeing champion at the College for Emergency Medicine.  Andy talks about how we all experience peaks and troughs in life – particularly at the moment – and that none of us are invulnerable to low points. He encourages us to build connections with colleagues – your immediate team through to the person you buy your coffee from each morning – and to move beyond conversations that start with ‘How are you?’ and end with ‘Fine thanks’.

A reminder to everyone that if you or your colleagues are ever feeling distressed or in need of support, please visit our intranet for health and wellbeing resources including contact information for Caraniche at Work, Western Health’s Employee Assistance Program that provides a free and confidential counselling service for staff.

Kind regards

Dr Abi Arul
Acting Chief Medical Officer
